Grid Art (Assignment A4) - Wu Tang Logo

For this assignment, we were asked to create a piece of art with the use of a 30 x 30 guideline, and homogenized objects to give the piece a cohesive look. To illustrate my use of the grid in a picture I combined the use of laying out 30 pieces of Corn Pops cereal on each side to give a sort of baseline or x/y axis for the piece, and the use of a digital overlay to show how my creation would fit in a computer based software. As far as inspiration would go, I drew upon and recreated the famous logo of the Wu-Tang Clan, a hip hop group with origins from Staten Island, New York. This logo has been in use for over 25 years, and has received global recognition, and is among the most famous logos still in the music industry today. After being inspired by listening to their music, I began to layout and shape these hundreds of pieces of cereal, using the grid as a guide to complete the logo. I hope that you will enjoy this peculiar approach to grid art as much as I did making it.

The Innovation and Technology of Nike’s HyperAdapt (Assignment - A3)

Max Jiménez Prof. Roundtree FMX 211 October 15, 2018 The Innovation and Technology of Nike’s HyperAdapt             Footwear has been around for centuries and is a major component of our day-to-day wear. Traditionally, shoes have been made from leather, wood or canvas, but in the 2010s, as a result of material innovations rubber, plastics, and other chemical-derived materials have been increasingly prevalent in the production of sneakers and athletic wear. In this paper I will highlight a 21st century innovation that are in the beginning stages of production, and in several years may be mass-marketed and change the way that sneakers are made and worn. This company makes up a large percentage of worldwide footwear sales and is at the forefront for innovation in terms of pioneering new technologies to be worn by the masses.             The technology that I w...

Blog Post - B5 (Music Movements)

Movements: Industrial Hip Hop/Horrorcore: Ho99o9 I chose the hip hop group Ho9909 (pronounced Horror) because they combine hip hop with a traditionally aggressive hardcore punk sound palette. I believe that their work (such as United States of Horror)  really blurs the line between genres by incorporating various elements to make their music. I consider that their work fits with electronic music because of their use of various computer-generated sounds (i.e. distorted programmed bass lines), and the use of both traditional live instruments (drums, guitar). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7saY1yWyWbc Post-Punk: IDLES I chose the British post-punk band IDLES because I had heard their song Danny Nedelko  from their 2018 album Joy as an Act of Resistance. I consider that their work represents the modern take on punk music, and fits with technology because of the use spacious synth-bass sounds on the epic Colossus (from the same album). https://www.youtube.com/watc...

Blog Post #1

My name is Max Jimenez, and I am a first-year commuter student attending the University of Tampa intending to major in New Media Production. I am originally from New York, although I have lived in the Tampa Bay Area for most of my life. My feeling about the first Art & Technology class and the semester were pretty positive going into this new course. This class sounds interesting, and it also sounds like it will be a challenge for me this semester. When this  class  is all said and done I  expect  to expand and improve my skills in creating  projects in multiple formats so  I  can succeed in my major and various areas of interest. I have been a fan of the New York Yankees for as long as I could remember. Although I love the Yankees, I do watch other sports as well, including basketball and soccer. I love to watch professional soccer, whether it be the MLS or the English Premier League.  I love to attend live shows and sporting events. ...
